The Indianapolis Colts have been searching for a long-term quarterback for several years now. The team thought they had taken one in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft in the person of Anthony Richardson, but so far, Richardson has been a failure. So much so that in 2024, he had to be replaced by a nearly 40-year-old veteran.
Joe Flacco signed a one-year deal with the Colts last offseason and was expected to be Richardson's backup. Instead, Richardson got injured early (of course), and Flacco stepped in and was better.
The team didn't necessarily win more games with Flacco, and he was far from perfect, but at least Indy knew what they were going to get.
