INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts will soon place veteran wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger on injured reserve, and Indianapolis might also place second-year receiver Dezmon Patmon on injured reserve, depending on the team doctor’s recommendations.
Indianapolis had to carry all three players on the 53-man roster until 4 p.m. Wednesday before placing them on injured reserve or they would have lost them for the entire regular season.
Hilton underwent a surgery to repair a disc issue in his neck that general manager Chris Ballard said was relatively minor and unintrusive, and the veteran wide receiver immediately felt better after the procedure was over.
