Colts want to see nose tackle that will 'stand out this week' against Rams

It is one of the least heralded, most overlooked jobs on the football field. It is also among the most indispensable.

In the Colts’ defense, if the nose tackle fails to do his job, the defense itself is at great risk of failure.

“That’s an important position throughout your whole defense when you play a 3-4 (scheme),” defensive coordinator Greg Manusky said. “It’s all based upon that guy. … You want a guy who will control that inside.”

Do the Colts have such a guy?

That is a question that appears to be unanswered, but the Colts are making a renewed effort to reach a conclusion.
