Colts tight end Jack Doyle considering retirement, wants time to make decision

INDIANAPOLIS — Veteran Colts tight end Jack Doyle says he’s contemplating retirement due to the physical and emotional toll the sport has taken on his body and mind.

Doyle, 31, can still play. The Indianapolis native caught 29 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns, and he played a critical role in the Colts’ running game. If Doyle leaves, Indianapolis will have a big role to fill on the offense.

A decision likely will not come for a little while. Doyle said he has an idea what he wants to do, but he wants to take some time, talk to his family, former coaches and teammates and get away from the emotion of the moment before making a final decision.
