According to Mike Chappell, the Colts are signing WR DeAndre Smelter to a reserve/futures contract on Wednesday.
Indianapolis brought him in for a workout earlier this week, so they were clearly impressed enough to sign him. The Lions also tried him out recently but did not sign him following the session.
Smelter, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2015. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.28 million rookie contract when the 49ers waived him at the start of the 2016 season.
