Colts' Khari Willis retiring after just three seasons to pursue ministry

INDIANAPOLIS — Colts starting strong safety Khari Willis is retiring at the age of 26, just three seasons into his NFL career, in order to pursue ministry full-time.

Willis did not participate in the team’s organized team activities or mandatory minicamp, taking an excused absence from head coach Frank Reich because of a personal matter.

Answering the call to ministry.

Willis, in walking away from a promising NFL career on the verge of his fourth season, is giving up a chance at a coveted second contract that could have earned him far more money than his rookie deal.
