Colts keep defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis around with one-year deal

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts have spent most of the NFL’s legal tampering window locking up their own players before they could make it to the open market.

Indianapolis brought back defensive end Tyquan Lewis on Tuesday night, a source told IndyStar, on a one-year deal worth up to $3 million, betting that Lewis will be able to return to form after a torn patellar tendon ended his 2021 season prematurely.

Lewis, a second-round pick by the Colts in 2018, had 14 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 18 pressures in 311 snaps before tearing his patellar tendon as he tried to return an interception of Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the team’s second game against Tennessee.
