Colts designate starting safety Khari Willis for return, Parris Campbell making progress

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts designated starting strong safety Khari Willis to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, beginning a 21-day window for Willis to practice, although Indianapolis can bring up Willis to the 53-man roster at any point.

Willis was on the practice field during the portion of practice open to the media on Wednesday.

Indianapolis badly needs its starting safety back on the field. With starting free safety Julian Blackmon out for the season after tearing his Achilles tendon and Willis on injured reserve with a calf/knee injury the past four weeks, the Colts have been forced to rely on Andrew Sendejo and George Odum at the position, getting mixed results.
