Colts cut ties with player who said he'd be 'best cornerback to play the game'

INDIANAPOLIS -- D'Joun Smith didn't lack confidence shortly after the Indianapolis Colts selected him in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft.

"Under the right tutelage and the right coach that's going to make my technique even better, I'm probably going to be the best cornerback to play the game," Smith said at the time.

Smith won't be the best cornerback in the NFL while playing for the Colts. The team grew tired of his nonstop injury problems and announced it waived-injured the cornerback Friday. Smith will go on injured reserve if he clears waivers.
