Colts approve Browns to interview Ed Dodds, Chris Ballard's No. 2, for general manager

INDIANAPOLIS — For the second consecutive year, the Cleveland Browns want to talk to a member of the Colts about a possible promotion.

This time it’s Chris Ballard’s right-hand man, assistant general manager Ed Dodds.

Indianapolis has granted permission for Dodds to interview with the Browns for their open general manager position, a source confirmed to IndyStar on Saturday, a spot that is contingent on the man Cleveland hires to be its head coach.

Dodds, who spent 10 seasons climbing the front office ranks in Seattle, worked there with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, a candidate for the Browns’ coaching job and the man who would want to team with Dodds.
