Alec Pierce doesn't get the ball enough. He likely never will with the Indianapolis Colts as long as head coach Shane Steichen is in charge of the offense. That, to be sure, is not a fair statement to either Pierce or Steichen, but it is nonetheless true.
Steichen's system works best with play-action, which means a team needs a good running back. Indy has a great running back in the person of Jonathan Taylor. Pierce might work best when he works in a pass-heavy offense that gets him the ball a lot. He hasn't lived that kind of life yet, though.
