Clayton Geathers suffered a season-ending neck injury after playing in nine games last year.
With an injury like Geathers’ bulging disc that required offseason surgery, the Colts’ organization wanted to be as cautious as possible in his recovery. He began the 2017 season on injured reserve, but a new wrinkle in the NFL’s injured reserve policy allowed Geathers to return to the active roster later on in the year.
In order to open up a roster spot for Geathers, the Colt have waived linebacker Josh Perry. Perry played in two games for Indianapolis this season against the Bengals and Steelers, but he didn’t amass any stats during his time with the Colts.
