2015 NFL Draft: Indianapolis Colts Select WR Phillip Dorsett

With the 29th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select Phillip Dorsett out of Miami (FL).

Position: Wide Receiver

Measurables: 5’10”, 185 lbs, 30 ¼” arm length, 9 ⅜” hands

Analysis:

What Dorsett lacks in size he makes up for with elite straight-line speed (40-yard dashes of 4.29 & 4.27 seconds at Miami’s Pro Day). He posted just 36 catches in 2014, but 10 of those grabs were for touchdowns and he averaged an eye-popping 24.2 yards per catch. A second-team All-ACC wideout in 2014, Dorsett overcame a host of injuries throughout his career to raise his draft stock with a finishing flourish.

Dorsett absolutely lights defensive backs on fire with his acceleration to the second and third levels, and his ability to glide effortlessly on crossing routes allows him to cut through man-to-man defenses in impressive fashion. He also has good hops and outstanding body control in the air, all of which makes him a legit big-play receiver with the raw tools to be at least a #2 in this league regardless of his lack of size.
