KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 21/25 Tennessee came off a week of short rest following a double-overtime thriller against Georgia Tech on Monday night, but was still able to come out strong in a 42-7 win over the Sycamores in Indiana State's first-ever trip to Rocky Top and ISU's first trip to the SEC in 22 years on Saturday evening.
The Sycamores (0-2) looked sharp in flashes, but the nationally ranked Volunteers (2-0) set the tone early by returning the opening kickoff 91 yards to the house for a quick 7-0 lead in front of 99,015 fans at Neyland Stadium – the largest crowd to ever witness an Indiana State Football game (the previous high was 96,461 at Penn State in 2011).
