DES MOINES, Iowa – Indiana State’s women’s distance squad had a tremendous first day to kick off the 107th Drake Relays for the Sycamores on Thursday night, breaking the all-time 4x1600-meter relay record and notching the third-best 10K in school history as well.
The Sycamore quartet of Taylor Austin, Brooke Moore, Brittany Neeley and Abigail Grider shattered the previous record of 20:22.50 set in 2005, besting that by 25 seconds at 19:57.60 to finish fourth overall.
This constitutes the fifth school record broken by head coach Angela Martin’s and women’s distance coach Kyle Walsh’s women’s distance crew this indoor and outdoor season, following record breaking performances in the indoor 5K (Taylor Austin; 16:49.
