TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Sophomore Cassaundra Roper led the way for the Sycamore women with a career day in the hammer throw at Day One of the Gibson Invitational.
Her accomplishments helped list the Sycamore women to second place in the team scores, with ISU sitting with 13 points through two scored events behind current leader Southern Illinois. The Sycamore men, meanwhile, sit in fifth with 4 points.
Roper's new record comes at a distance of 53.68m (176-01), which gave her a second place finish. Her distance moved her to the ninth-best distance in school history, and currently sits at fourth in the Valley.
