TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—The Indiana State softball team used a seven run fourth inning to back pitchers Taylor Lockwood and Bailey Benefiel as the Sycamores shutout Butler in an 8-0, five inning victory in their home finale Thursday.
Senior pitcher Taylor Lockwood got things started in the circle, throwing three perfect innings to open the game before sophomore Bailey Benefiel entered the circle in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom half of the fourth inning, the Sycamore bats came alive as senior Kelsey Montgomery led off with a single before junior Rylee Holland drew a walk.
