NEW ORLEANS – Senior thrower and former Sycamore tight end Jamar Brown ranks No. 1 nationally in the shot put by more than one foot among football players in the USTFCCCA’s first rankings of the season.

Brown, an Indianapolis native that played four seasons for Indiana State’s football team before joining the track team in December, holds a 16-inch advantage in the shot over Adams State’s Zach Baxter at his career-best toss of 17.87m (58-07.50). That throw, performed at Rose-Hulman for the Terre Haute Double-Dual meet on Jan. 15, ranks eighth all-time in Indiana State history and second in the MVC behind All-American Josh Freeman of Southern Illinois.
