Gher Sets New Record, Sycamores Win Third Straight

CHATTANOOGA – claimed a new school record for career saves, showed flashes of Ozzie Smith at short and used the long ball twice as Indiana State overpowered Tennessee State, 8-7, in six innings at the Chattanooga Challenge on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

The Sycamores (3-1) won their third straight game with back-to-back three-run innings in the middle of the game. In the third inning, hit a home run – her second of the game – with two runners on to pull ISU into a 5-5 tie. Then in the fourth inning, pinch runner scored on a Tennessee State error and two more runs came across the plate after a triple down the right field line for an 8-5 lead.
