Distinguished Sycamore Head Coach John McNichols Inducted into MVC Hall of Fame

ST. LOUIS - Legendary Indiana State Track & Field head coach John McNichols was inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame as a member of the 22nd class on Friday morning.

McNichols was one of six individuals honored at the Hall of Fame ceremony and was joined by three basketball student-athletes in Kristi Cirone (Illinois State); Dolph Pulliam (Drake); and Kent Williams (Southern Illinois); a wrestling Olympian in Bill Smith (UNI); and a long-time contributor to Bradley University athletics in Joe Stowell.

McNichols was named the head men's track & field and cross country coach at Indiana State in 1983, and despite many opportunities over the years to leave for higher-level jobs, he remained for 34 years until his death in 2016.
