Rudy Gay declined his player option with the Sacramento Kings, putting him on the free agency market this July. Considering he told the Kings his plans almost a year ago, it wasn’t surprising.
The reason we’re talking about him today is that last year the Pacers were involved in rumors with him, but no trade ever materialized.
Gay only played 30 games with the Kings last season before a ruptured Achilles tendon took him out of commission. Interestingly, his last game was against the Pacers. He was shooting 37.2% from beyond the arc and playing some of the most efficient basketball of his career and averaged 18.
