Thaddeus Young opts in to final year of his contract with the Indiana Pacers

Thaddeus Young and the Indiana Pacers are sticking together as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that he is opting into the final season of his contract.

Young, for his part, wanted a longer contract with the Indiana Pacers. The team, however, preferred paying him for one more season and then reevaluating the situation a year from now.

Young averaged 11.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists a game with Indiana while shooting 50.5% from the floor. Young served as the glue that held Indiana’s defense together over the past two seasons while rarely needing the ball in his hands to be effective.
