Q. My name is Eric Curry. I was on the Indiana State team in 1979. This is just a comment about Mel. He was like a father to me. I live in Chicago now. When my best friend called to tell me about Mel, I had to pull over because I was driving. Mel, I love you. The last time I saw him was in November at the Larry Bird dinner.
A. I include this comment as representative of the reaction to the passing of Mel Daniels on Oct. 30. Everyone who had experience with him, in and out of basketball, says the same things.
