The Indiana Hoosiers had another statement with no sign of a let down this past Saturday for thier homecoming game, beating the Michigan State Spartans 38–10 atMemorial Stadium. With Indiana's win, Curt Cignetti and his team jumped to No. 2 in the AP and Coaches Poll, the highest ranking in program history.
Against Michigan State, Fernando Mendoza cemented himself at the top of Hesiman discussion and led the Hoosiers with 332 yards on 24-of-28 passing (85.7%) for four touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Kaelon Black ran for 64 yards on 10 carries (6.4 yards per carry) and one touchdown.
