Indiana Hoosier quarterback Fernando Mendozahas been named a semifinalist for both the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, as announced by their respective organizations on Thursday.
The Miami, Florida native is among 20 total semifinalists and 11 quarterbacks on the Walter Camp list, and he is one of 20 signal-callers to make the cut for the Davey O'Brien. These are the second and third award semifinal cutoffs for Chambliss this week alone, as he was also named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award on Tuesday.
Mendoza's stats for the complete season are among the best of the best, he has completed 181 passes on 254 attempts with 2,342 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
