Saturday Series Clincher

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A five-run second inning and a quality start on the mound paved the way to a series-clinching win for the Indiana baseball program on Saturday (April 23) over Nebraska, 8-1, at Bart Kaufman Stadium.

Indiana (16-22, 4-7 B1G) scored five unearned runs in the second inning after Nebraska (14-23, 4-7 B1G) plated the first run of the game in the top of the frame. A single in run in the third inning and two eighth inning runs capped the scoring at 8-1 in favor of the Hoosiers.

Freshman Carter Mathison hit his 10th home run of the season and joined the shortlist of rookies to reach the 10-home run mark.
