Reports: IU set to hire Woodson as next head coach

According to multiple reports, Indiana is on the verge of hiring a 63-year-old man without any college coaching experience as its next head coach.

Indeed, IU athletic director Scott Dolson apparently wants to bring former Hoosier Mike Woodson back to Bloomington.

WDRB’s Rick Bozich was first to report Sunday that Woodson is the frontrunner for the job. Several others, including IndyStar’s Zach Osterman, followed up with reports that the two parties are close to finalizing a deal. What’s more, IndyStar’s Gregg Doyel reports that IU is also hiring former Ohio State head coach Thad Matta as its associate athletic director for men’s basketball administration.
