Report: IU to hire Charlton Warren as new DC

Tom Allen has found his next defensive coordinator.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, it’s Georgia defensive backs coach Charlton Warren. The 44-year-old has experience calling a defense from his time at Air Force, where he served as his alma mater’s defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013. Warren spent the past two seasons on Georgia’s staff, and has also coached the secondary at Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

At Georgia, Warren worked on a unit that led the nation in scoring defense in 2019. There, he also coached first-team All-American safety J.R. Reed.
