Tom Allen has found his next defensive coordinator.
According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, it’s Georgia defensive backs coach Charlton Warren. The 44-year-old has experience calling a defense from his time at Air Force, where he served as his alma mater’s defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013. Warren spent the past two seasons on Georgia’s staff, and has also coached the secondary at Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.
At Georgia, Warren worked on a unit that led the nation in scoring defense in 2019. There, he also coached first-team All-American safety J.R. Reed. During his one year at Florida in 2018, Warren was part of a staff that helped the Gators improve in several categories, most notably takeaways (tied for 11th nationally with 26) and pass efficiency defense (No.
