Philadelphia Phillies select Indiana Hoosiers top signee in 2025 MLB Draft

Former Indiana Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year and Hoosiers signee Matthew Fisher was selected 221st overall in the seventh round by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Major League Baseball draft on Monday.

Fisher was the third Hoosier affilated with the program selected behind outfielders junior Devin Taylor and redshirt sophomore Korbyn Dickerson.

His final stats in his senior season were 6-0 with a 0.76 ERA, striking out 61 batters in 36 2/3 innings of work, per Kyle Sokeland of the Evansville Courier & Press. The 6-foot-3 right-hander was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year in Indiana.
