Indiana University begins its 122nd season of competition in men's basketball and will host St. John's in the Gavitt Games, a series which pits members of the Big Ten against teams from the Big East. The event started in 2015 and SJU is 3-1 against the Big Ten, while IU is 2-1 against the Big East and will play its third home game in the series. IU holds a 5-2 series lead against the Red Storm. They last met in the 2015 Maui Invitational with the Hoosiers winning, 83-73. SJU has the ninth most wins in NCAA history (1,889), while IU ranks 10th (1,871).
