Merchent Named Big Ten Freshman of the Year; Shepherd Named to Second Team

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana men's golf saw two honored by the Big Ten on Wednesday as Clay Merchent was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten while senior Ethan Shepherd earned Second Team and Sportsmanship Award honors.

Merchent becomes the third Hoosier in program history and the first since Jorge Campillo in 2006 to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Year accolades. The Noblesville, Ind. native is also the first Hoosier to earn First Team honors since Brant Peaper did so in 2013.
