Layne out for indefinite period

Indiana is dealing with another injury inside of its defense.

IU coach Tom Allen announced Monday that defensive back Raheem Layne recently underwent a medical procedure to treat an undisclosed injury and will be out for an indefinite period.

Layne, who moved from corner to safety during spring practice, led Indiana’s corners with 30 tackles, including 28 solo stops, while appearing in all 13 games as a junior in 2019.

The news of Layne’s injury comes a week after Allen announced that hybrid linebacker-safety Marcelino Ball will miss the season with an ACL injury. Allen said Layne’s injury did not occur during practice.
