BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana Women's Soccer goalkeeper Bethany Kopel has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It's the first honor of the Novi, Mich. native's career and the first weekly award for Indiana this season.
"As a freshman, she's grabbed hold of that leadership role very, very early on for us," said head coach Amy Berbary. "Our entire team respects her and we look to her to provide that spark for us."
Kopel has collected 82 saves on the year, good for third in the Big Ten and 34th nationally.
