Indiana Sprints Past Western Illinois, 98-65, in Season Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men's basketball team (1-0) defeated the Western Illinois Fighting Leathernecks (0-1) by a score of 98-65 to open the college basketball season on Tuesday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Indiana improves to 99-21 all-time in season openers and has won 21 of its last 22 opening night games.

Junior forward Justin Smith matched a career-high with 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior guard Al Durham recorded a perfect shooting night and finished with 21 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the floor, 3-for-3 from the 3-point line, and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
