Indiana running back Roman Hemby named to Doak Walker Award watch list

Indiana senior running back Roman Hemby has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Wednesday.

The Doak Walker Award, established in 1990, is presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.

Roman Hemby spent four seasons at Maryland, before transferring to Indiana this off-season. Hemby led the Terrapins in 2024 in carries (134), rushing yards (607) and touchdown runs (six). He also caught 40 passes for 273 yards and receiving touchdown.

In four seasons at Maryland, Roman Hemby scored 22 touchdowns, ran for 2,347 yards while also catching 112 passes for 921 passing yards and five touchdowns.
