Indiana Opens the Season with 34-24 Victory Against Ball State

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Football opened the 2019 season with a 34-24 victory against Ball State Saturday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium in the Ruoff Mortgage Kickoff Classic.

The Hoosiers, who never trailed in the contest, were led by redshirt freshman Michael Penix Jr. as he threw for 326 yards and a touchdown. Penix became the first Indiana freshman to start a season opener since the 1998 campaign.

Sophomore Stevie Scott rushed for a pair of touchdowns while adding 48 yards. Senior Nick Westbrook led the team in receiving yards with 103, including a 75-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter.
