Barr, Richardson selected on final day of MLB Draft

The second day of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft saw a run on Hoosier pitchers. Finally, on Day 3, a couple of Indiana bats came off the board.

The Seattle Mariners selected infielder Cole Barr in Tuesday’s 15th round and the New York Yankees picked outfielder Grant Richardson in the 17th round, giving IU’s program six draft selections in total.

The Mariners really, really seem to like Barr. The club also picked the right-handed slugger in the 37th round of the 2019 draft, though Barr obviously chose to return to school. Over 141 career games for Indiana, Barr smashed 27 home runs and drove in 99 runs while compiling a .
