NORMAL, Ill. – Freshman Tara Damnjanovic defeated Wisconsin's Maryann Rompf 6-2 and 6-3, but fell in the second round to Michigan State's Davina Nguyen 1-6 and 4-6. Junior Natalia Bravo fell in two hard fought matches to Valpo's Jelena Vujanic 4-6, 3-6 and Toledo's Eileen Carney 4-6, and 2-6.
"We played tough competitive matches and Tara picked up a great win in the first round," Said Coach Maja Kovacek "Both of these newcomers are improving with each tournament and still growing into their game."
The duo will play again on Friday, Oct 19 for the doubles portion of the tournament.
