SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Riley Wells concluded his third outdoor campaign at Illinois State Friday night on day three of the 2023 NCAA West Preliminary Round.
In the 800m run quarterfinals, Wells finished as the second runner out of qualification for the NCAA Championships. His season best time of 1:47.93 would sit as the 12th-fastest in the overall field, as he finished sixth in heat three.
As the NCAA Championships qualifiers for the 800m are made up of the "top three in each heat plus next three fastest times," Wells will not advance to NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas in two weeks, as his 2023 outdoor season comes to an end.
