Strong Start Leads ISU to Tie of Eighth at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A strong first round helped propel the Illinois State men's golf team into a tie of eighth place in a strong and deep field after the opening day of the Purdue Fall Invitational, hosted at the Kampen Golf Course.

ISU had rounds of 292 and 298 over the two rounds for a first-day total of 590, knotted with the Big Ten's Iowa for eighth place. Tennessee – ranked seventh in the latest Golfweek Rankings – leads the field by a dozen strokes with a two-round 563 while LSU and tournament host Purdue round out the top three with a 575 and 579, respectively.
