Strong Homers as Illinois State Drops Series Opener to Evansville

NORMAL, Ill. – Second-year sophomore Nick Strong homered but the Illinois State baseball team dropped a 13-3 decision on Friday at Duffy Bass Field in the series opener against Evansville.

Illinois State (17-24 overall, 6-13 Missouri Valley Conference) also got a pair of hits by third-year junior Auggie Rasmussen.

Evansville improves to 27-18 overall, 10-9 MVC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Evansville scored the first six runs of the game, highlighted by a two-strike, two-out grand slam in the 2nd inning.

Freshman Shai Robinson and Rasmussen each tallied RBI hits in the 3rd inning before UE scored the game's next four runs.
