NORMAL — Advertising is important in the coaching business, which partially explains the appreciation Illinois State track coach Jeff Bovee has for fifth-year senior Ryan Rutherford.
A University High School graduate, Rutherford's career has become a billboard for Bovee's distance running program.
Bovee's first recruit, Rutherford has been putting ISU in the national limelight for a while now and will do so again in the NCAA Championships' 10,000-meter run at 9:08 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday in Eugene, Ore.
"Coach Bovee has done an amazing job with me and a lot of our guys and girls," said Rutherford, who believes top prospects should consider ISU.
