SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Illinois State men's golf team is 11th overall after one full round, as the second round was stopped because of darkness at the 2023 Desert Mountain Collegiate.
The Redbirds carded an opening-round 298, ahead of UConn, South Dakota State, USC, DePaul, and Central Michigan and are within seven strokes of the top four in the field, including within striking distance of Nebraska and Michigan.
ISU is just over halfway through their second round when it was stopped because of darkness, and the round will resume tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. CT
The squad was led in the opening round by Jack Paeglow, who carded an opening-round 73, a round in which he was under par for 16 of the 18 holes on the round.
