NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Cross Country program is set to open the 2021-22 season at the Hawkeye Invitational on Friday, Sept. 3 at the Ashton Cross Country Course in Iowa City, Iowa. The women's 4K race is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. CT, while the men's 6K will follow at 6:45 p.m. CT.
The Redbirds return to Iowa after taking a year-long hiatus due to COVID-19. Before last season, ISU had made its season debut at the Hawkeye Invitational for five consecutive campaigns.
THE RETURNERS
Both the ISU men and women were selected to finish third overall in the MVC Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 62 and 76 points, respectively.
