ST. LOUIS – Illinois State men's golfer David Perkins was selected at the Missouri Valley Conference Tri-Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced Thursday by the league. Perkins shares the honors with Southern Illinois' Brandon Carlson and Matt Greenfield.
The freshman from East Peoria, Illinois, fired a 4-under-par 68 in Tuesday's final round of Wisconsin's Badger Invitational to lead the Redbirds, who finished in a three-way tie for fourth place with a 6-over-par 870 (286-296-288) at the par-72 University Ridge Golf Course. Perkins, who was competing in his first-ever collegiate event, finished the tournament in a tie for fifth place on the individual leaderboard with a 5-under-par 211 (71-72-68).
