Past of ISU's Laufenberg hinting at bright future

In the Illinois State junior discus thrower, we have the suspense of not knowing what she'll do next juxtaposed with the thrills of what she's done.

Suffice it to say Laufenberg's past repeatedly hinted at what she would do on March 30 in Oxford, Miss.

On that day in the Ole Miss Classic, her winning throw of 187 feet shattered Angie Joy's 1998 school record of 181-0. Only eight Division I collegians have thrown farther than Laufenberg this season.

A harbinger of Laufenberg's potential came in 2013, her freshman year in Clinton, Iowa at Prince of Peace, a school with 39 students and no throwing coach.
