NORMAL — Illinois State boasts two candidates for the Walter Payton Award which is presented to the top player at the FCS level.
And while tailback Wenkers Wright and wide receiver Daniel Sobkowicz are both having fine seasons, the leading contender for the Payton may be arriving at Hancock Stadium on Saturday in North Dakota State colors.
Bison quarterback Cole Payton has passed for 979 yards and rushed for 277 more as the No. 1-ranked defending national champions take on the No. 6 Redbirds in a 6 p.m. Missouri Valley Football Conference clash.

"He's a load and he can really run," ISU coach Brock Spack said.
