Niko Medved leaving Drake to become head coach at Colorado State

Drake men’s basketball coach Niko Medved is moving on after just one year to become head coach at Colorado State.

The 44-year-old Minnesotan, who led the Bulldogs to a fourth-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference and the second round of the College Insider.com Tournament this season, will replace Larry Eustachy at the Mountain West Conference school. Medved served as an assistant at CSU under Tim Miles from 2007-12.

“My family and I are ecstatic to have the opportunity to return to Fort Collins and Colorado State University to become the head men’s basketball coach,” Medved said in a press release.
