Niko Medved leaves Drake for Colorado State men’s basketball job

Drake men’s basketball coach Niko Medved is moving on after just one year in Des Moines, accepting the head coaching position at Colorado State.

The 44-year-old Minnesotan, who led the Bulldogs to a surprising fourth-place finish in the MVC and the second round of the College Insider.com Tournament this season, will replace fired coach Larry Eustachy at the Mountain West Conference school. Medved served as an assistant coach at CSU under Tim Miles from 2007-12.

“My family and I are ecstatic to have the opportunity to return to Fort Collins and Colorado State University to become the head men’s basketball coach,” Medved said in a press release.
