Freshman Nicola Jansen of the Bradley cross country team led the Braves at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday with a historic performance by a BU rookie.
Jansen ran the 6K course in 21:10.5 to finish 16th overall in the women's race. She was the top freshman at the NCAA Midwest Regional – 23 seconds ahead of the next fastest true freshman. Her 16th-place finish is also the best by a BU rookie in school history – topping the previous record of 17th set by Angie Zimmerman in 1997.
Overall, Jansen helped lead the Braves to a 10th-place team finish in the nine-state regional.
